Monday's Mini: My li'l Panda Diary

I love me some cute stationery. If I have to have a pencil, eraser, pen, ruler etc they must be adorable. I sometimes baffle my husband when I sometimes go running after a Hello Kitty notebook or prance like a kid in the Disney store. So when Born Pretty Store offered some of their adorable stationary items I was delighted.

Astor Perfect Stay Gel Shine Nail Polishes - Review & Swatches

Astor Perfect Stay Gel Shine Nail Polishes

Astor a few months back released a new range of nail polishes called Perfect Stay Gel Shine
"It’s now unbelievably easy to achieve sensational salon-style nails at home. Perfect Stay Gel Shine Nail Polish delivers gorgeously glossy, brilliantly coloured nails with a gel-like finish. Astor’s unique, patented LYCRA®*-rich Gel Shine formula ensures impeccable, lustrous shine and colour for up to 10 days. And the new 3-in-1 formulation means no base coat or top coat is required - wow! Furthermore, the easy-to-use Superior Salon Pro brush ensures a covers the whole nail surface for a one stroke application. Perfect."

There are 18 colours available, containing 12ml of product, each costing €5.99.

I chose Creamy Coral, Make A Splash and You Are Grey-T to review. And I can without a doubt say when I received the nail polishes, I knew I had somehow picked the most unappealing colours for myself. Not that somebody else won't like them, but they aren't what I would have gone for if I had been buying at a drugstore.

These bottles come with a salon pro brush which is thicker and wider and in two strokes you can get your nail painted, the brush's like Essie nail brushes won't spread to cover your nails if you know what I mean but still does a pretty good job.

Astor Perfect Stay Gel Shine Nail Polish - Creamy Coral

Creamy Coral is a pastel coral shade that is quite pretty, but since I am not so overly fond of pastels and how they look on me, I don't see myself wearing it a lot.
All these nail polishes have the new LYCRA gel-shine formula because of which they looked good enough without a top coat. Nice and glossy! I needed two coats to achieve opacity.

Astor Perfect Stay Gel Shine Nail Polish - Make A Splash

Make A Splash is kind of a dull purple shade that would work quite well in Autumn/Winter. It also needed 2 coats.

Astor Perfect Stay Gel Shine Nail Polish - You Are Grey-T

You Are Grey-T looked like a muddy brown in the bottle but applied as a very chic grey. I have most hopes for this colour in the upcoming season because even though it is not my type it definitely is a very classic grey. Two coats applied in the picture above.

The formula for this nail polish was pretty good and smooth. I can't comment on their 10-day durability since every person takes care of their painted nail in a different way, although all three colours took quite some time to dry. I would say they are slightly expensive for 6 EUR otherwise I would have gotten some better colour options.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Electric Yellow - Swatches

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Electric Yellow

For a very long time I was looking for a perfect sunny yellow nail colour, one that does not contrast against my skin tone, is bright and great for spring and summer. Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish Collection has a huge range of shades at affordable prices of 2 euros approx. There I came across this awesome yellow.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Electric Yellow
Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Electric Yellow | $3.99, £2.99, 2.25
Electric Yellow is a vivid, sunny yellow with a jelly-like finish; because of this finish it has a very smooth application unlike many other yellows, that tend to be streaky and patchy. It is quite sheer and reaches full opacity in 3-4 coats. Although I have used only 2 coats in the pictures above without a top coat.

All in all, it is an amazing bright yellow shade and I especially love its glossy finish.

Hits & Misses: Lipbalms

Hits & Misses: Lipbalms
Two of my lip balms are in my other bag, which I don't have right here with me. So just imagine them in this picture and google for their images.
It is no secret I am a lip balm junkie. I collect, I don’t like them and they just go in a pile. It should also be no secret I don’t like MOST of the lip balms. The lip balm MUST heal my chapped lips else it just is not worth it. I don’t care how good it smells, how cute it looks, although this still doesn’t stop me from buying more but in the end the best is the one that works.

I have although managed to part away with some empty pots of lip balms but I am still holding on to some for the sake of this planned-for-ages Hits & Misses: Lipbalms post. If you have trouble with dry lips, I can assure you this post will solve more than half you worries.

We will begin with the Misses and keep the good bit for the end. They are numbered from worse to average.

11. EOS Lip Balm in Summer Fruit
We all know how adorable EOS Lip Balms are. And most of us bought them only for their egg-shaped cuteness. I have read some raving reviews about them too. But personally I hate it. It is not hydrating, it sits on the top of my lips, gives me the urge to lick them and in the end drying them more. For instance I am out for a day, I start my morning by applying EOS Lip Balm and then go out with it in my bag, until and unless I am not reapplying it every half hour, I am doomed. You can read my very old review on this here.

10. Live Beautifully Peppermint Twist Lip Balm
I am sure most of you guys remember from my Live Beautifully Haul I was excited to receive three lipbalms in my mail. The excitement sort of dampened when I started using them. Their Lip Butter Primer is certainly the best thing ever, but their lip balms did not impress me as much. Peppermint Twist has a refreshing scent of mint when you open the lid mixed with a bitter scent of I-don’t-know-what. Besides being aversive to the smell and the fact I have to dip my finger in (I am NOT a fan of tubs), the lip balm itself is very greasy.

9. Blend Collective Enlivening Lip Balm
For a detailed review, head over to this post! In short, chic and stylish packaging with a very fresh scent of lemon, the lip balm sadly just sits on my lips, has a very waxy feel to it and makes me uncomfortable.

8. Live Beautifully Peach & Vanilla Whipped Lip Butter
Again, this one is very similar in formula to the Peppermint Twist Lip Balm. It is ranked lower in the Misses only because of its WONDERFUL smell. Vanilla just gets to my head and makes me swoon in pleasure. A very warm scent that makes me long for cold winters and a cup of hot chocolate. But it feels very butter-like on my lips too as if I have layered some olive oil on.

7. The Body Shop Born Lippy
You can find its old review here! This one is not a total miss, but neither a hit. For extremely chapped lips it doesn’t do any good. However, if your lips are not really dry, this one smells very summer-y, like strawberries, has an almost invisible pink tint and does feel nice on the lips.

6. Korres Rose Lip Butter Stick with SPF15
This product is not really a lip balm I would say. It is quite tinted. But I would call this one a miss because as a lipstick or lip tint is is gorgeous but as a lip balm compared to the real hard-core ones it is not what I would reach out for when I have chapped lips but if I am looking for something hydrating for a day out this would be it. Read more about it in my Weekly Highlight post.

Now for the Hits, and they are numbered from good to the best!

5. Live Beautifully Juicy Peach & Pear  Lip Balm Anthology
I don’t why but I found the formula of the Live Beautifully tub lip balms different from the stick one. Peach and Pear besides smelling like a delicious smoothie is not as greasy, doesn’t feel like a butter stick and does a good job of keeping my lips hydrated.

4. Yves Rocher Repairing Lip Balm with Shea Butter
From this point forward the lip balms mentioned are actually for people who suffer from dry lips and are looking for products that can actually heal all that flakiness and soreness. Shea Butter is already known for its replenishing properties and this does a great job of repairing and comforting dry lips.

3. The Body Shop Hemp Lip Conditioner
Another one of my favourite, which doesn’t smell the best though, more like a herbal treatment, does wonders for my lips in winters. I just stopped buying this because all the other ones mentioned in these Hits are a lot cheaper.

2. Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
This and the next one are my favourite of the bunch. This lip balm has pomegranate oil which is rich in antioxidants and great for keeping your lips replenished and smooth while also fighting the signs of aging. It is also not overly glossy so you can always add it under your lipstick or wear it alone without worrying about the shine.

1. Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm
Already featured in my Monday's Mini, this is the best lip balm for overnight treatment of lips. It is quite thick with a minty scent and feel to it. It gives a pleasant tingling sensation and just gives me baby soft lips. Very cheap, this ones has to be in your stock if you love lip balms.

So this was all ladies, a tiny roundup on my lip balm collection. Hope you find the right one for you.

Born Pretty Store DIY Rhinestones Bracelet - Review

Born Pretty Store is not the place for only cheap nail art stuff they also store some really cute accessories. I was asked to review their DIY Rhinestones Bracelet and anything which can be personalized is just my cup of tea.

I decided to be a tad bit cheesy and went for hub's and my initials on the leather strap..oops! Born Pretty Store has 17 different straps to offer and I ended up choosing #155. I wanted something delicate and thin and the hint of gold was perfect. You can pick from decorative alphabets, numbers or zodiac signs to dress up your strap.

The leather strap feels very light and so do the rhinestones. The bracelet looks pretty fancy on my arm, of course for such a price you'll be compromising on the quality although it wasn't as tacky as I thought it would be. Make sure you choose the right combinations; the reason I went for plain gold & silver.

You can create your personalized bracelet here, the prices start from $1.73. Use code VXL91 to get 10% off.

Monday's Mini: L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray

L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray
L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray (400ml) |  $12.99, £6.60
Currently I have with me the 300ml bottle of the hairspray in 'Extra Hold' which cost me €3.45. I first purchased the tiny sample bottle in 'Extra Strong Hold' which I must say is great for traveling although I ran out of it quite quickly.

This hairspray I must say is hyped for all the right reasons. I used to have a huge issue of curls not staying in my hair more than an hour and with this they last all day. Amazing, right? Also it does not make my hair stiff. My hair stays soft to touch and I can smoothly run fingers through them.

I cannot recommend this product enough. It is awesome and the best hairspray ever. And it doesn't even cost much. If you have problems with hair staying in place and do not like the stiffness gels or some hairsprays tend to give, L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray is just THE best.

Also it has such a lovely floral scent to it! Though I have read many reviews with people complaining about its BAD smell and I think they might have changed it, since it smells wonderful and I of course do not have the unscented version.
