Review: Jelly Pong Pong Dynamic Duo and Gloss Bonbon

After the amazing Cheek Puff I badly wanted more of Jelly Pong Pong in my vanity case. I was ecstatic when I won these bits and pieces in their Blogger Giveaway Contest. For once and for all I will mention it here instead of raving about it all along in the review, Jelly Pong Pong has the QUIRKIEST, SASSIEST packaging of all. The bits and pieces I won were:
Dynamic Duo (Ballerina Lace)
In today's post I will review the first two products.

DYNAMIC DUO (Ballerina Lace)

JELLY PONG PONG SAYS
Our superior shadows are perfect applied wet or dry, and come in a stunning range of original colours. A light veil of shimmer ensures they double beautifully as a cheek highlighter.
Bonus : Comes in our signature candy-striped compact with mirror for easy application.

PRICE
GBP 15.00 ($ 18.00)
Buy it online from Jelly PongPong or Cherryculture.

(L-R) Bronze, Light Fuschia
FACTS AND FIGURES
Dynamic Duo comes in a compact with mirror. It is available in 10 different shades. I received Ballerina Lace which is a combo of Bronze and Light Fuschia.

MY OPINION
The candy-striped compact with sturdy cardboard is totally girly and cute. The tiny mirror inside makes it great for on-the-go application and the magnetic closure makes it safe. The name Ballerina Lace is so princess-y. Light Fuschia is a baby pink with very mellow shimmers and bronze (I don’t know why it is named that) is off-white.
Sadly eyeshadow quality did not woo me as much as much its packaging did. The shades are more good for highlighting. The light fuschia can be worn even for work. This illusive shade can look pretty and magical if worn the right way even on an occasion, because you really need to bring out its subtlety. It will really compliment lighter skin tones. Bronze on the other hand is very rough in the pan with almost no colour payoff. I swiped it about 8 times before I attained the swatch below. Without a good primer, both the colours don’t show up and fade away quickly.
I think only this particular Ballerina Lace duo has a low colour payoff because of its light colours, the rest of the Dynamic Duo shades are darker and seem more pigmented.

RATING
I’d probably give this one a pass. If I want to purchase I’d go for the darker duos.

GLOSS BONBON (Macaroon)

JELLY PONG PONG SAYS

All in a sweet travel size for a quick & sugary-easy application anywhere. Take delight in making yourself look absolutely delicious!

Labeled double-ended  Gloss Bonbon tube
FACTS AND FIGURES
Gloss Bonbon is a multifunctional stain for lips and cheeks that comes in a 5.5g travel size double-ended tube. It is available in 5 colours. I got Macaroon, with Sweet Cerise for lips and Orange Choc for cheeks.

MY OPINION
I did not hear many good reviews about this, so I was really skeptical about how it will turn out. After seeing for myself, I got to know one thing, that makeup certainly is our own personal thing. I LOVE this, the only thing that worries me is the size, because I will use it up soon :/ But the good thing about the size is that it fits anywhere, even your wallet.
Both the lip and cheek stain have a doe foot applicator. The lip stain is just like another gloss, in a sheer peachy shade which is also moisturising and not at all sticky. Corals and peaches are my favourite lip colours, so I am delighted I got Macaroon. There is no shimmer or glitter, yayy! though the gloss does not last very long. The cheek stain is a reddish pink and you need to really, really blend it out to avoid looking like a baboon. I use my fingers to blend it out on my cheeks. To me it smells kind of plastic, maybe that’s how bonbon smells, I am not sure.

RATING
I’d definitely buy it again and in some more colours, because it is the best travel-friendly multifunctional lip and cheek stain; preps you for anywhere within seconds.
