News would have reached most of you that Sephora announced Marsala as the Pantone Color of the Year 2015; inspired by the shade of the Marsala wine. The colour has been described from muted scarlet to terracotta red to a rich reddish-brown with purple hues. Yes, the colour is kinda complex. And to be honest, I am not overjoyed with this particular shade. But I am sure with time it will grow on to me.
This shade is something I would prefer more in fashion than in beauty, nonetheless I picked up 5 makeup products that best fit the new Marsala trend. Marsala..! I don't even like the the ring of it. I only found out today that there is an Italian American dish called Chicken Marsala...eek!
Ranting aside, let's see my top picks for Pantone Color of the Year 2015 - Marsala. And since I did not want to crowd the main picture with numbers, here they are in clockwise order:
1. Zoya Nail Polish in Marcella (link)
A muted brown-pink, Marcella is perfect for an everday casual look yet with a pop of colour. And Zoya's formulas are always immaculate.
2. Revlon Color Burst Balm Stain in Adore (link)
Brown-red is the last shade I want to wear on my lips. It is so 90's and on me not at all flattering. Still, Adore will suit a variety of skin tones.
3. Sleek Powder Blush in Flushed (link)
This is my favourite of the bunch. I love blushes, all shades (almost). And Flushed is oh-so-gorgeous, a perfect Autumn/Winter shade.
4. YSL Kiss & Blush in Prune Impertinente (link)
You will see this one is Sephora's Color of the Year picks too. And the fact that it can be used both as a lip and cheek product makes it so much better.
5. NYX Single Eyeshadow in Flustered (link)
A marsala-ish eyeshadow, this is something I'd gladly wear in these cold months.
What do you think? Are you happy with the Pantone Colour of the Year 2015 choice? What makeup products will you be picking? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
